To answer this question, we must pay attention to the fact that there are many types of diamond blades on the market. Their basic division is as follows:
• a diamond disc with a continuous raceway – it has no “teeth”, so the diamond layer is applied continuously. This makes it ideal especially when working with hard but fragile materials. So it is a diamond disc for gres, tiles and some varieties of field stone.
• segmented diamond blade without gaps (so-called turbo) – in this case the blades are mounted in segments, which significantly changes the use of the blade itself. First of all, it will be a diamond disc for concrete, but also for all kinds of bricks and cinder/breeze blocks. In addition, it can handle fragile materials, which is why it is often referred to as a universal blade.
• segmented diamond blade with slots – apart from the mentioned segments, we are dealing with special slots, which, among other things, make the cut more stable. Morover, temperatures generated during operation are subject to reduction. All this makes it a diamond blade for lightweight concrete, soft bricks and tiles.
Many types of segmented discs with and without slots are used for the same materials. The difference between the two products is related to the cutting speed. Turbo products are usually around 20% faster, and blade wear is also reduced. After all, in the long run, greater performance stands on the side of the discs with slots.
